- INSTALLATION

- SELF-EXTRACTING EXE
-
- If the INSTALL.BAT file is on the floppy disk, change to
- the drive with the program disk, type INSTALL followed by the
- drive letter you want to install it to and a colon (:).
-
- Example:
-
- INSTALL C:
-
-
- will unarchive the files into the \HOMEWRKS directory on drive
- C. If the directory does not exist, the archive will try to
- create it.
-
- If the install program is not on the disk, or you want to
- manually install the file, use the following procedures:

- o Change to the drive that holds the program disk.
-
- o To install to a directory on the C: drive, type the
- filename followed by the drive name and the direct-
- ory to install it to. For example, if the program
- filename is HWPP100.EXE and the directory name is
- HOMEWRKS, type:

- HWPP100 C:\HOMEWRKS
-

- o To install to a floppy disk, type the filename and
- drive:

- HWPPn B: (n is the version number)

- If the program files are in an archive file other than a

- self-extracting EXE (.PAK, .ZIP, .LZH, etc.) you will have
- to use an unarchiving file (PACK, UNZIP, etc.).

- If you have the archive utility PAK and the filename has the
- .PAK, .ZIP, or .ARC extension, type:

- PAK E HWPPn C:\HOMEWRKS (n is the version number)

- to extract all the files to the HOMEWRKS directory on your C
- drive
-
- OR:
- PAK E HWPPn B: (n is the version number)
-
- to extract the files to drive B.
-

- LOADING THE PROGRAM
-
- To load the Personal Possessions program, type:
-
- HWPPn [/m] [/c] (n is the version number.)
-
- /m switch for monochrome monitors
-
- /c switch for color monitors
-
-
- To load the program named HWPP1 for a monochrome display, type:
-
- hwpp1 /m
-
-
- The first time the program is loaded you will be asked to select
- your monitor type if you do not use the m or c switch. This will
- enable the program to display in colors readable by your monitor.
- Some colors do not display on a monochrome monitor even if you have
- a color card installed in your computer.
-
- Your option will be stored in the configuration file until it is
- changed.
-
- To change from a monochrome to color monitor (or vice versa) at
- a later time, use the /m or /c switch when loading the program and
- it will store that option until you change it again.

- ON-LINE HELP
-
- Anytime you are in need of help while running the program, press
- the <F1> key to get a context-sensitive help screen.
-
- If help is not available for a menu, button, or form, the 'No Help
- Available' screen appears.
-

- KEY GUIDE
-
- To see a list of valid keys and key combinations, press the <F2>
- key.
-
-
-
-
- MAIN MENU
-
- There are five options in the Main Menu. The first three are the
- Home Inventory, AudioFile, and VideoFile programs. The next is the
- Options Menu and last is the Exit Program option.
-
-
- o HOME INVENTORY
-
- o AUDIOFILE
-
- o VIDEOFILE
-
- Selecting one of these options will open the necessary
- database and display the screens and menus for adding
- and editing items, viewing and printing lists, reports,
- etc. of the items you save in the database. The program
- will automatically handle the database file functions,
- etc. All you have to do is enter the items you wish to
- save, edit and sort, view or print.

- o OPTIONS MENU option will display a menu with additional
- selections to choose from.
-
- o PROGRAM INFORMATION will display information
- about this program and shareware distribution
- and registration.

- o PRINT DOCUMENTATION will print the documentation
- (manual) files to your printer.
-
- o REGISTRATION displays the registration/order
- form for you to input the needed information
- to register and receive the latest version of
- the program. Select PRINT on the form to print
- a hard copy to mail in.
-
- o BACK-UP DATA FILES asks you to select a drive
- letter (A or B) to back-up data files to and
- then copies them to your disk in that drive.
-
- o COPY PROGRAM will make a copy of all the needed
- program files for you onto a floppy disk to pass
- along to a friend. See more about shareware
- distribution by viewing Chapter 1 of the
- documentation or select the PROGRAM INFORMATION
- option.
- o SET SYSTEM TIME will let you set or change the
- time on your computers internal clock.

- o SET SYSTEM DATE will let you set or change the
- date in your computer.
-
- o MAIN MENU returns you to the Main Menu when you
- are through in the Options Menu.
